Returning to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s lone-man gunman attempt to blow up a Northwest airliner on Christmas day, let’s scan the body of events for government lies, the real explosive elements. Let’s give Umar a good dose of radiation with the knowledge that first reveals the 80 grams of PETN explosive he carried in his crotch lacked a blasting cap to blow him and the plane away. Instead, lighting with an injection of liquid that did nothing but set him on fire. As if no one in the military or intelligence knew that.

MURFREESBORO — A 23-year-old man who told police he is in the country illegally is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl he met online through the social networking site, MyYearBook.com.  Jose A. Chicas is scheduled to appear in court next week on two counts of statutory rape in connection with the crime.  He allegedly posed as an 18-year-old on the MyYearBook.com Web site where he befriended the victim, according to a report filed by Murfreesboro Police Detective Tommy Roberts.

In March 2009, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced his support for the return of the so-called Assault Weapons Ban. Of course, Holder is hardly alone in this wish. Shortly after he was elected President, Barack Obama announced on his official website, his desire for “making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.”

The Senate’s top Republican said Sunday that he will not vote for Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation for the Supreme Court because he worries that her personal views would cloud her objectivity on the bench.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, said that while he is a “big fan of her career,” comments she made publicly over the years “led me to believe she lacks the objectivity that you would prefer to have in a member of the Supreme Court.”

Lately, California has been much on my mind.  First, spring here in Pittsburgh—and throughout the east coat—has been a dreary affair. The days have been cloudy and wet. When I watch the weather and see Californians soaking up the sun, I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic.
